GEMMA moved from precision mechanical parts into bicycle hydraulic brake systems, and the 900 and 1000 series were designed around how electric bikes are actually ridden — heavier, faster, and braking later than the bikes those calipers were originally sized for.
The result is a range that European and North American builders specify on cargo, recumbent and moped-class bikes, not only on sport bikes.
